Tuesday 18th September – Depart the US on flight UA 146 at 10.10pm from Washington Dulles.

Wednesday 19th September - Arrive at Edinburgh Airport at 10.25am. After security meet your tour leader and travel to Glasgow. On arrival there will be a guided panoramic sightseeing tour of Glasgow including a visit to the Provond's Lordship House, the oldest house in the city built in 1471, one of only four medieval building to survive in the city. Then continue to Loch Lomond and check-in to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight: Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel, Aberfoyle (D)

Thursday 20th September - Depart hotel this morning for scenic journey via Glencoe & Fort William. In Fort William there will be the option to take the mountain Gondola to the top of the Nevis Range. Continue to Loch Ness for a visit to Urquhart Castle and a Loch Ness cruise. Arrive in Inverness later this afternoon and check in to your hotel.   Overnight: MacDonald Drumossie, Inverness (B/D)

Friday 21st September - Today enjoy some sightseeing in and around Inverness. See the mysterious Clava Cairns Stone Circles and travel to Culloden Battlefield, the scene of Scotland's bloodiest battle. Continue to Cawdor Castle Dating to the 14th century this magical fairy tale castle is not only famous for its association with Shakespeare's Macbeth but is an extraordinary place to visit. Return to Inverness with some time free in for independent sightseeing and shopping.  Overnight: MacDonald Drumossie, Inverness (B/D)

Saturday 22nd September - Depart Inverness and visit a Scottish Whisky distillery for tour & tasting. Continue south into the heart of the Cairngorms National Park to Aviemore where you will enjoy a scenic train journey and a light lunch aboard the dining compartment on the Strathspey Heritage Railway. Continue to Pitlochry including a stop en route at the Highland folk museum where you will get a flavour of how Highland people lived and worked from the 1700s up until the 1960s .   Overnight: Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry (B/L/D)

Sunday 23rd September - This morning there will be a visit to Blair Castle, ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. The castle enjoys one of Scotland's finest settings in the heart of Highland Perthshire. Visit the castle and enjoy a tour of 30 rooms and the fascinating collections they contain. Afterwards visit the famous scenic view point Queens View which overlooks Loch Tummel and is said to have been named after Queen Victoria, following her visit to the area in 1866. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity for shopping in Pitlochry e.g. House of Bruar.  Overnight: Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry (B)

Monday 24th September - Depart Pitlochry this morning and travel to St Andrews with a guided walking tour on arrival including a visit to cathedral ruins. There will be time to explore the town including St Andrews Golf Course and the West Sands beach, location for the filming of Chariots of Fire. Depart St Andrews and depart for Edinburgh. En route stop in Kinross for a visit to Kinross House Estate for a private tour of the gardens. Considered one of Britain's most beautiful country estates, this neoclassical Palladian house has over 100 acres of garden, pasture and woodland and is where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned before she escaped from Scotland. Continue to Edinburgh and check in to your hotel. Overnight: Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Edinburgh (B)

Tuesday 25th September - Edinburgh, one of the world's finest cities. Its magnificent architecture shifts from the lofty buildings of its medieval Old Town that line the Royal Mile, to the graceful houses of the Georgian New Town. Overlooking it all is majestic Edinburgh Castle.  This morning there will be a tour of Edinburgh Castle. Afterwards continue on a guided tour of Edinburgh including a visit to Holyrood Palace.  The rest of the day at leisure for independent sightseeing. This evening enjoy 4-course banquet and Scottish show at the Round Stables, Prestonfield featuring music, bagpipes, fiddles and dance. Overnight: Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Edinburgh (B/D)

Wednesday 26th September  Depart on United flight UA 147 at 12.30pm if returning to the US.  Arrive in Washington Dulles at 3.30pm. Depart on Aer Lingus flight EI 3253 at 11.35pm if joining the tour of Northern Ireland (B)
